Alan S. MacKenzie

Alan Stuart MacKenzie found peace, surrounded by family at home, on February 28, 2024, at the age of 72. Beloved husband of 44 years to Joanne (Near), he was born to parents Murray and Margaret (Riggs) MacKenzie on February 2, 1952, in Windsor, Ontario, where he later graduated from Riverside High School. Alan married Joanne, the love of his life, at First United Methodist Church in New Hartford, New York on June 23, 1979. Hockey first brought him to the States, where his professional career culminated as a defenseman for the Milwaukee Admirals from 1977-1980. After his playing career, Alan started and managed his own company, Milwaukee Packaging Products. He had a passion for coaching hockey, and led teams including Waukesha Youth Hockey, AAA Girls, and the Brookfield High School Varsity team. Alan was a proud husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Alan is survived by his loving wife Joanne; three children Brian, John (Katie), and Jessica (Dom Pellegrini); cherished grandchildren Isla, Leo, Lucia, and Roman (with a fourth baby Pellegrini on the way); and sister Donna (Tom) Parsons. Alan is further survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will remember him for his loving spirit and big heart. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at UNITY Lutheran Church – Cross of Life Campus, 20700 West North Avenue, Brookfield, WI 53045. Alan was laid to rest privately at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha. He will forever be remembered in our hearts.
