Alice A. Fletcher of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, formerly of Houghton, New York, ran to the arms of Jesus on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born in Billings, Montana on December 10, 1930, to her parents, Charles and Verdie (nee Fulton) Betz.
Billings was home to Alice during the challenges of the Great Depression, but her life was filled with music that would shape the direction of her adult years. Alice met her future husband, Rolland Fletcher, when his college quartet sang at her church. They began dating her freshman year at Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Kansas and were married July 27, 1949. They partnered in pastoral ministry for 20 years in churches across Minnesota, Iowa, Montana, South and North Dakota, and Colorado. In 1971, committed to providing a Christian college education for their children, they joined the work and ministry of Houghton College. Their family was deeply impacted by their passion for following Christ and great love of music. They forged a beautiful marriage of deep love and friendship that lasted 70 years until Rolland’s death in 2019. Alice worked for Houghton College for 20 years in the college bookstore, Payroll, and Human Resources until her retirement in 1991. She had an eye for beauty and found great creative outlet in cooking, baking, sewing, needlework, knitting, gardening and home renovation.
Her Grace-filled life will be greatly missed by her four children, Diana (Terrence) Stoneberg of Montgomery, AL, Laurel (Jean-Marc) Pinard, of Montgomery, AL, Rodney (Joy) Fletcher of Brentwood, TN, and Wenda (Gerald) Krupp of Mukwonago, WI. She was the proud grandmother of Richard Stoneberg of Montgomery, AL, Rolland Stoneberg of Montgomery, AL, Francois (Lisa) Pinard of Tokyo, Japan, Andre (Gretchen) Pinard of Lisle, IL, Jaclyn Fletcher of Brentwood, TN, Geoffrey Krupp of Milwaukee, WI, Allison (Anthony) Francis of Marion, IN, Alexander Krupp of Marion, IN, and great-grandmother of Anaïs, Giselle, Guillaume, Gavrie, Faye, Celeste and Vincent Pinard.
