Alice Bronn O’Malley, of Waukesha, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at LindenGrove at the age of 97. She was born on October 20, 1911 in Milwaukee, the daughter of John and Emilie (Liebenthal) Bronn. Alice graduated from Waukesha High School, and went on to study at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee for two years. She later married Patrick R. O’Malley on April 18, 1934. For 21 years, she was employed as an administrative assistant for Union Carbide/Linde Products in Milwaukee. After her husband died in 1965, she resided in New Mexico for almost 12 years until returning to Waukesha in 1988. Alice enjoyed volunteering her talents by playing the organ for many groups such as the Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters. She also volunteered at the UW–Waukesha library for 20 years. Alice is survived by her niece, nephew, and her adopted family: Beatrice Gurke, Don Gurke, Gail and Jeff Wood, Russ and Melissa Gurke, Linda and Michael Berger, and all their children: Christopher and Ashley Wood, Nick and Jessica Gurke, and Ryan and Katelyn Berger. She is also preceded in death by her brother, sister, and parents. A visitation will be held on December 6, 2008 from 10:00 AM until the Memorial Service at 12:00 noon at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. Burial of cremated remains will be held privately at Highland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the church (address above) or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
