Allen Rex, 90, died September 10, 2013. He was born April 27, 1923, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Alfred and Almyra Rex, he was the youngest of three children. Soon after his birth he heard the Savior's call in Holy Baptism, and through the gospel in Word and water he was adopted as a member of God's family. The Savior nourished the faith he had created in Allen's heart, and led him to confess this faith publicly. He was confirmed in the Christian faith at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from Rufus King High School, he attended the University of Idaho, Moscow, where he studied forestry. After 2 years, Allen transferred to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Allen married Dorothy Louise Falk (Toffel) on March 31, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waukesha, Wisconsin. On March 31, 2013, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
During Allen's lifetime, he worked for Borden's as a lab assistant, Hawthorn Melody as a milk procurement officer, and finally, after a move to Florida in 1971, as building supervisor for Beacon Woods. Allen served the Lord at Peace Lutheran Church with all his heart. He was active on the church council as financial secretary, and enjoyed fulfilling the role of usher whenever needed. The last few years were difficult: death of a daughter (Constance Rex), liquidation of her estate, and finally relocation to an assisted living facility when the demands of property ownership became too great. Jesus called Allen to his eternal home of peace and rest on Tuesday, September 10, 12:45PM, after body systems shut down. He received Holy Communion prior to going home with Jesus by Pastor Schwartz while at Gulfside Regional Hospice.

To him who loved us and washed us from our sins in his blood be honor and glory and power now and forever. Amen
