Alvin "Al" Erdman

Alvin A. “Al” Erdman, of Waukesha, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Season’s Hospice in Waukesha at the age of 92. He was born on April 19, 1919 in Augusta, WI, the son of Arthur and Clara (nee Lahn) Erdman. He was a 1936 graduate of Augusta High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Airforce from 1942 until 1945 in North Africa and Italy. In 1953 he graduated from UW-Platteville and has been a lifetime member of the Platteville Alumni Association. On December 26, 1953 he married Mary Jane (nee Steppler) Erdman, who preceded him in death on March 13, 2008. Al spent his career working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a soil and water conservationist. He was a proud member and past commander of V.F.W. Post 721 and member of D.J. Martin American Legion Post 8 both in Waukesha. Al has been a 38-year member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. He was proud and fortunate to be chosen for the World War II Honor Flight last year. He will be sadly missed by his children Janet (John) O’Brien of Waukesha and Allan Erdman of St. Louis, MO. Proud grandfather of Kathleen O’Brien of Milwaukee, Sean O’Brien of Milwaukee and Alison O’Brien of Madison. He is further survived by his brother Donald Erdman of Augusta, sisters Ruth Zank of Augusta and Gail Bremel of MN, sister-in-law Phyllis Erdman of Eau Claire, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends from Berkshire at Kensington. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Warren, sister Helen Barber, sister-in-law Alice Erdman and brothers-in-law Herbert Bremel and Ira Zank. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue. Visitation continues on Friday, May 6 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev.
