Amanda Lynn Slowik, of Waukesha, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the age of 36, after bravely battling brain cancer. Amanda was born in West Allis on August 20, 1987, to John and Beth (nee Johnson) Forkes. On May 11, 2018, she married her cherished husband John at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Throughout her life, Amanda was involved with the Girl Scouts and was an enthusiastic fan of Minnesota sports, especially the Vikings. She had a love for all things Disney, with a special fondness for Beauty and the Beast and her treasured collection created over the years.
Amanda will always be remembered and loved by her devoted husband John, as well as her beloved parents John and Beth Forkes. She is also survived by her father-in-law Peter Slowik, mother-in-law Sandy Slowik, brother-in-law Lucas Slowik and his girlfriend Andrea Ledvina, and brother-in-law Trey Slowik and his girlfriend Julia Pederson. Additionally, Amanda leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends. Amanda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George and Mary Forkes; maternal grandparents Edwin and Patricia Johnson; her aunt Anne Forkes; uncle Bud Caucutt; and cousin Matthew Johns.
Amanda's presence in the lives of those who knew her will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 18000 W. Greenfield Ave., Brookfield. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at church. Interment will be at a later date at Prairie Home Cemetery.
