Anita Jean Tingle, of Waukesha, died on Monday, September 29, 2014 at her home at Avalon Square at the age of 97 years. She was born in Kewanee, IL on November 11, 1916 the daughter of Irving and Gertrude (nee Bacon) Mellott. Anita was a 1975 graduate of Carroll University. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, the Practical Club and the Waukesha Garden Club. Anita enjoyed volunteering at the library and the Waukesha County Historical Society where she was a member.
She will be sadly missed by her five children, Jaqueline (Don) Polzin of Thiensville, Clark Tingle of Cadiz, KY, Marie Mellott of Shorewood, WI, Linda (Bruce) Kerr of California and Quintina Mellott of Taos, NM along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Elizabeth Kuss of Illinois, half-sister Annette Brissenden of Massachusetts along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon in 1981 and by an infant brother.
A memorial service honoring Anita’s life will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 4:00PM at the chapel of Avalon Square, 222 Park Place, Waukesha, WI 53186. Reverend Erin Musolf will preside. Burial of cremated remains will take place at Mabel Cemetery in Minnesota. Memorials in Anita’s name are appreciated to the Waukesha County Historical Society, 101 W. Main Street, Waukesha, WI 53186.
