Anna Larson

December 29, 1926 — September 15, 2012

WAUKESHA-Anna Jane Larson (nee Griffiths), found peace on Saturday, September 15, 2012 after a long battle with health issues at age 85 years. She was surrounded by her family as she fulfilled her final wish to die in the house where she was born and lived almost her entire life.
Anna Jane graduated from Waukesha High School in 1945 and received her teaching certificate from Racine-Kenosha Normal School in 1947. She returned to school and received her undergraduate degree in education from UW-Whitewater in 1964. Her 38-year teaching career started at Glengarry School in 1947 when one-room schools were still common in the area. She went on to teach at Tamarack, Hunkins and Brandybrook Schools. In 1964 she started at Merton Elementary School, where she influenced more than 800 young lives before her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed teaching and was often surprised when former students would stop her on the street to express appreciation for the impact she had on their lives.
Anna Jane is survived by her son James, daughter Bobbi (Jerry) Mueller, and grandchildren Jennifer (Jerry) Johnson and Andrew Mueller. She is further survived by great-grandchildren Alyssa Brugger, Dustin, Christian and Ashlynn Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman and her brothers James and Floyd Griffiths.
The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Kern for many years of kind, compassionate care. They would also like to thank Jessica and the entire Home & Hospice Advantage team for the tenderness they provided in the final days of Anna Jane’s journey.
Private graveside services will be held at Jerusalem Cemetery in Wales. For further information, please call Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral, Cremation and Preplanning Services at 262-547-4035 or go to www.waukeshafunerals.com to leave the family an online tribute message.
