Bernard J. Bourgeois of Waukesha WI passed away after a long battle with dementia. He passed at the home he shared with his wife Jeanne Anne Dibble Bourgeois on Monday, September 14, 2020 at the age of 67. He was born in New Brunswick, Canada on March 20, 1953 the son of Joseph and Maria (nee Gagnon) Bourgeois. He was very proud of his Acadian heritage and connection to Grand-Digue. He exchanged vows with his loving wife of 27 years Jeanne Anne Dibble-Bourgeois on April 22nd, 1993 in Waukesha Wi.
Bernard was a talented tinkerer with natural abilities towards art, design, and invention. He worked as a jack of most trades which, culminated in a majority of his career being spent as a tradesman. He enjoyed gardening, cars, drawing planes and people, but was most thrilled when spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his life stories with tales of travel, brawls squelched, and with Bernie somehow always ending up as the under-dog protagonist with a beautiful soul, trying to do the right thing. He was quick with a smile, laugh, and embrace.
He will be tremendously missed by his wife Jeanne Anne Dibble-Bourgeois of Waukesha; his daughters Hope Reid of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Tara Zoe Bourgeois of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Stephanie (Josh) Bourgeois Schilling of Newberg, Oregon; grandchildren Lydia Eden Bourgeois-Krause, Sawyer Hannon, Emmett Hannon, Samuel Fletcher Inzeo, Ezekiel Bourgeois Schilling, and Abigale Bourgeois Schilling. He was further survived by his siblings Christine Bourgeois, Alfred (Jocelyne) Bourgeois, Bernadette (Charles) Gallant, Rose-Marie (Larry) Thompson, Jean Paul (Nicki) Bourgeois, Marguerite (Glenn) Scheff, Leonard Bourgeois, and Jessica Bourgeois. He is preceded in death by his sister Marie Bourgeois and brothers Marc Bourgeois, and Richard “Pit” (the late Doreen) Bourgeois.
