Bernhard Arthur Kroening, of Waukesha, died on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Virginia Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 84 years. He was born in Milwaukee on February 10, 1929 the son of Bernhard Charles and Pearl (nee Satler) Kroening. He graduated from Rufus King High School and Junior College in Compton, California. Bernhard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 until 1953 serving in the 6741 Airborne Electronics Operator. On August 26, 1950 he married Shirley L. Davis. He worked for the Carnation Can Company and Generac Power Systems retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Shirley L. Kroening of Waukesha and his daughter Barbara (William) Boeck of Waukesha, his three grandchildren, Joshua Boeck, Julie (Joseph) Schmachel and Rachel Kumpsi and his great-grandchildren, Bobby, Brittany and Bryce Carpenter, Olivia and Gabriel Ruder and Asa and Eli Kumpsi. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marilyn in 2003, by his sisters Lois and Carol and his brother William.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 1:00PM at Prairie Home Cemetery, 605 S. Prairie Avenue, Waukesha. Reverend Gary Liedtke will preside.
