Betty L. Edwards a lifelong Waukesha resident passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born in Waukesha on July 18, 1928 the daughter of William and Agnes (nee Lamp) Turkoski. On June 5, 1948 she married her beloved husband, Robert Edwards at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. Together they were members of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and then Mount Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church for many years. At Mount Calvary they started the Boy and Girl Pioneers Program and Betty was a girl Pioneer leader for many years. She was also very active in many other church activities including the church choir and teaching Sunday School. She was currently a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church. Betty was an avid walker, never missing a day of going on her daily walk. She also enjoyed swimming and loved the outdoors, whether it be tending to her garden, watching the birds, camping or hiking with her family. Betty and Robert enjoyed traveling together, but Betty was most at peace when she was at home. Betty will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Robert of Waukesha, her three cherished children Robert (Gail) Edwards of Phillips, WI, Penny (Robert) Talley of Colorado Springs, CO and Susan (Duane) Dankert of Waukesha, her six precious grandchildren, Rebecca (Steve) Konen, Sarah (Mike) Nystrom, Sally (Nolan) Kopecky, Jeremy Edwards, Christopher (Kathryn Fischer) Dankert and Danielle Dankert and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Aralynn, Emily, Garrett, Eric and Talayla. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother William Turkoski.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the 12:30 p.m. funeral service at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Reverend Jason C. Hacker will preside. Private burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Memorials in Betty’s name are appreciated to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church.
