Betty Jean Gatzow passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the age of 91 years. She was born in Milwaukee on March 27,1934 to Grover and Eleanor (nee: Briesemeister) Dinnauer. On May 9,1953 she married Russell Gatzow.
With great love and gentle kindness, Betty always put family first and foremost in her life. Besides being a dedicated and resourceful homemaker, she was a gifted needlework artist. The beautiful embroidery and cross-stitch pieces Betty created brought joy to everyone around her. She had a passion for flowers and delighted in cultivating a vibrant garden. As a devoted member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Betty found peace and connection through her faith. Participating in church activities, especially as a school lunch volunteer, she nurtured lasting friendships.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband Russell, their daughter Linda Gatzow, her dear granddaughter Heidi (Adam) Jahnke and two loving grandchildren Elora and Emberly Jahnke, who will carry on her legacy of love, creativity and faith. Betty is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her son Donald Gatzow, and by her brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 18000 W. Greenfield Ave, New Berlin, WI from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at 2:00PM at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, please meet at the cemetery chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty’s name are appreciated to St. Luke Catholic Church (address above).
