Betty H. Kane, formerly of Pewaukee and the town of Genesee, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at LindenGrove at the age of 88. She was born in Madison on April 29, 1927 the daughter of Charles and Lucille (nee Trainor) Higgins. She was a 1944 graduate of Edgewood High School in Madison. Betty was proud of her Irish heritage, which dated back to the 1850’s in the Madison area. On May 16, 1953 she married James R. Kane; he preceded her in death on July 31, 1999. A dedicated, hardworking woman, Betty along with her husband Jim, built a successful Shaklee business and together they enjoyed running a hobby farm. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Genesee Depot. Betty loved life and was always a positive, upbeat person. She had a great sense of humor, was a good listener and was always kind and compassionate person. Betty enjoyed traveling, but most of all she loved being with her family and will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Michael (Sharon) Kane of Madison, Cindy (Grey) Halstead of Delafield, Kevin (Cathy) Kane of North Lake and Kathy (John) Heppe of Beaver Dam. She was the dear grandmother of Brian Kane of New York City, Jameson Kane of Oconomowoc, Tyler (Jody) Tomann of Woodland Park, CO, Chris Heppe of Reno, NV, Betsy (Ryan) Sidders of Oconomowoc and Alison Kane of Los Angeles, CA, along with one great-grandchild Maddison Tomann. She is further survived by her brother Richard (Patricia) Higgins of Kansas City, KS along with nieces, a nephew, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 10:00AM until the time of the 11:00AM funeral Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, S38 W31602 Hwy D (corner of Hwy D & Hwy 83), Genesee Depot, WI 53127. Father Ralph Gross will preside. Private burial will be held at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Genesee. Memorials in Betty’s name are appreciated to St. Paul’s Parish, P.O. Box 95, Genesee Depot, WI 53127.
