Betty T. Scott, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016 at her Waukesha home following a brief illness. She was born October 9, 1929 in Coalwood, West Virginia to Joel Worth and Elva Saffrona (nee Bailey) Tipton. Growing up in West Virginia, Betty was proud to be a coal miner’s daughter. Following her high school graduation, she met the love of her life James S. “Sam” Scott, Jr. They were united in marriage on March 18, 1951 and Sam preceded her in death on October 5, 2002. She received an associate’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Waukesha. Betty was an avid golfer and college basketball fan. She enjoyed playing bridge and had a passion for reading.
She will be sadly missed by her sister, Barbara (the late John) Ratliff of Vermilion, Ohio; brother-in-law, David de Vries of Evanston, IL and sister-in-law, Sonja Scott. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, her caregiver of many years, Heidi Wegner and her constant companion Hannah.
In addition to her husband James S. “Sam” Scott, Jr.; she was preceded in death by her sister, Lynda (de Vries) Tipton and her brothers, Leonard and William (J.R.) Tipton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 9:00 AM until the time of the 10:00 AM funeral service at the Randle-Dable Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave Waukesha. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
