Skyberg, Betty J., (nee: Peterson), 84, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face Wed., Sept. 10, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Duluth, MN. On May 16, 1942, she married Paul Skyberg, who passed away in 2005. They were married in Duluth, MN and started their family there. While living in Duluth, Betty loved working in her father’s jewelry store. In 1964 they moved to WI, where Betty worked part time at JC Penny’s. Betty greatly enjoyed working there with all the friends she made. Any family member or friend of Betty’s would say that she was well liked due to her sociable, friendly and humorous personality. For many years, Betty and Paul wintered in Panama City, FL, where they met people from all over the United States and Canada. Numerous friendships were formed and continued through phone calls and letters. Betty always thought of others before herself. She especially loved helping people less fortunate than her. For over 20 years she served as a volunteer for the Salvation Army and mainly helped with their weekly meal program. Aside from volunteering, Betty and Paul attended church services every Sunday at the Salvation Army. This is where both Betty and Paul developed many friendships. In addition to all of Betty’s cherished friends, she also adored her family. She was a very loving mother to her three children and was always there when they needed her most. Betty was very blessed to have five beautiful grandchildren, which she called “Nan’s Dear Dear Friends”. She loved nothing more than to spend time with her grandchildren and spoil them immensely. She is survived by her three children David Skyberg of Marshall, Jimmy Von Milwaukee of Milwaukee and Beth (Bracken) Heiges of Wauwatosa; fond “Nana” of Christy (Jim) Sharping, Carla Skyberg, Ashley, Kallyn and Bracken Heiges; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Starlof , beloved father, Jalmer Peterson and sister Dorothy Hansen. Visitation at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S.
