Betty G. (Doherty) Tolbert, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 80 following a brief illness. She was born in Milwaukee on November 23, 1936 the only child of Erling and Elizabeth Frostad. She was a graduate of Washington High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from UW-Milwaukee. Betty was a beloved kindergarten teacher for the New Berlin School District for 38 years, teaching at Elmwood and Glen Park Elementary Schools. She deeply loved and was committed to her students and profoundly influenced them. Betty had many passions besides her classes. She enjoyed her many friends, loved traveling, shopping, watching Packer games, tennis, and many other sports. Her Thursday hair and nail appointments were very important to her a well as the friends made within the walls of the salon.
She was preceded in death by her two cherished sons, James “Jimmy” Tolbert IV in 1989 and Scott Tolbert in 2015, along with her parents. She is survived and will be remembered by many dear friends, past co-workers, teachers and her numerous former students.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials in Betty’s name are appreciated to AngelsGrace Hospice, N74 W35908 Servants’ Way, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
