Longtime Waukesha resident Carl Manak died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc, at the age of 93. He was born in Cudahy, Wisconsin on January 31, 1915 the son of Joseph and Sophia (nee Kopecky) Manak. On December 2, 1947 he married June (nee Schock) Manak. Carl started out farming with his family on the outskirts of Waukesha in 1932 and then owned the Club 164 tavern. He operated Manak Realty for many years and later co-owned the Astor Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. Carl was a past president of the Wisconsin Realtors Association and the local Toastmasters International Club. He and June were charter members of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Waukesha Elks Lodge #400, the Kiwanis Golden K, and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Waukesha Council #1825. Carl will be lovingly missed by his children Robert (Heidi) Manak of Waukesha and Pam Manak of Waukesha; his grandchildren Colleen Manak of Milwaukee and Valerie Manak of Madison; sister-in-law Doreen Manak of Waukesha, nephew Tom (Ro) Manak of Glen Ellyn, IL along with other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife June, brother Joseph Manak, and sister Jozephine Manak. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI. The Very Reverend James T. Volkert will preside. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at the church. Private family entombment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
