Carol I. Woerpel, former Waukesha resident, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Waterford Senior Living at the age of 97. Born in Blue River in Grant County, Wisconsin on June 19, 1910, she was the only child of Carl J. and Cloe M. (Ferebee) Schmitt. After graduating from Blue River High School in 1928, Carol attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1933 with a Bachelor of Music. She was a lifetime member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. While working as a secretary/accountant at Frautschi Coal Co. in Madison, Carol met Theodore E. Woerpel, and they were wed on November 12, 1938. The couple moved to Hollywood, California in 1944 where Ted was employed at North American Aviation Co. On March 6, 1947, Carol and Ted added a son, David S. Woerpel, to the family and soon after, moved to Burbank. In 1950, Carol and her family moved to Palatine, Illinois and in 1955 moved, once again, to Waukesha, Wisconsin. The family joined First United Methodist Church in Waukesha and Carol became an active member of United Methodist Women. Carol was blessed with a daughter-in-law, Theresa, in 1973 and stated, "Theresa is the daughter I never had." More blessings arrived in 1977 and 1987 with the addition of grandchildren: Adam J. and Anna K. "I have something to live for!" Carol announced at each of their births. In 2005, Carol celebrated the marriage of Adam to Andrea Stiff of Fort Atkinson. "I am so blessed!" was the reply this time. 1984 saw a move to a condominium in Elm Grove, where Carol and Ted lived until his death in 1991. Carol continued to live in Elm Grove until her move to Waterford Senior Living in 2007. Carol and Ted were active members in their church. They loved music, accumulating quite an album collection, and often attended concerts. They also enjoyed traveling the world.
