Charles Arnold Barten, 74, entered the spirit world on August 23, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family. Charles was born on March 23, 1943 in Ladysmith, WI to Theodore and Mary Barten. Charles served in the U.S. Army as a truck driver. His family commemorated that service with an “honor stone” at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville, WI. He was an avid outdoorsmen who loved to fish and hunt. Charles taught Hunter’s Safety course in Waukesha County for over twenty years. He was employed as a Welder/Fitter and retired from Cardinal Fabricating in 2009. At the time of his retirement he and his wife, Maureen, moved back to Ladysmith. Charles returned to Waukesha in 2016.
Charles is survived by his children Kenneth Barten of Arnold, MO, Kelly (Brian) Trautman of Waukesha, WI, Kristine (Chad) Anderson of Oconomowoc, WI and Kimberlee (Anthony) Coronado of Waukesha, WI, grandchildren Eric (Teah) Trautman, Heather (Brad) Warner, Hannah Edson, Tyler Barten, Sarah Edson, Alexzander Coronado, Amelia Anderson, Adrianna Coronado, Andrew Coronado and Ashlee Coronado, great-grandchildren Issac and Axel Trautman, brothers Pete Barten of Kalispell, MT, Ed (Donna) Barten of Ladysmith, WI and Tom (Pat) Barten of Stevens Point, WI, sisters Margie (Dale) Hebard of Ladysmith, WI, Delores Beaudin of Hayward, WI, Nita Hebard of Copperopolis, CA and Kathy (Rod) Williams of Ladysmith, WI, Hilde Barten of Hart, MI, Krissy Barten of Vergas, MN and Donna Barten of Sheridan, WY. He is further survived by Michelle (Mark) Ucjich of Muskego, WI, Ryan (Carrie) Schmidt of Wauwatosa, WI, Rich Schmidt of South Milwaukee, WI, Alec and Krista Ucjich, and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary Barten, his wife Maureen, brothers, Ray, Ted and Ole, sisters Char, Ida and Geri.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gilberto Rodrigues, the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic as well as Aurora at Home Hospice for their compassionate care.
Visitation and services will take place at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave, Waukesha, WI 53188 on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the 2:00 PM memorial service followed by full military honors. At his request, interment of his ashes will be in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
