Charles “Chuck” J. Merten age 84 of Waukesha died on April 15, 2024. He was born May 27, 1939 the only child born to Joseph and Marie (nee Zahnzinger) Merten.
Chuck began his teaching career at MATC at the age of 21 where he taught for40+ years. He also ran Suburban TV Repair Service from his home. At one point in his life, Chuck had a love for cats, taking in ten cats naming them 1 through 10! He enjoyed listening to polka music on WTKM; and played successfully in the stock market. Chuck helped finance an FM radio station for a disabled friend.
He was a HAM Radio enthusiast and train enthusiast and was a member of many HAM radio, toy train and railroad organizations. Special recognition to Chuck’s friend Scott for helping him maintain his properties and other special projects.
He is survived by several cousins and friends. All of Chuck’s friends describe him as having the qualities of a boy scout, helping and mentoring young people that showed an interest in what he taught.
Committal services will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, S22 W22890 E. Broadway Ave., Waukesha on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place beside his parents and grandparents.
