Charlotte J. Hagelberg, of Pewaukee, formerly of Ohio, died on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Lake Country Health and Rehab at the age of 89. She was born in Conneaut, Ohio on December 26, 1925 the daughter of Matt and Hilda (nee Lemponen) Ojari.
Charlotte was graduated from Conneaut High School, and earned a degree in Music from Suomi College (now Finlandia University). She later earned an MBA from University of Missouri-Kansas City.
She met the late Rev. Melvin Hagelberg at Suomi, and they married in 1946. She was committed to her faith, and was a dedicated, loving partner to him and in his ministry.
Professionally, Charlotte worked in business administrative roles in healthcare, government, and other industries.
Beyond her love of family and friends, Charlotte’s great passion was music. She was an accomplished vocalist and pianist, performing in venues ranging from small churches to symphony concert halls, and had many fond memories of sharing her talents with others. Her love of music remained throughout her entire life.
She will be sadly missed by her two children, Paul Hagelberg of Pewaukee and Hope (Gust) Olson of Wauwatosa. She is further survived by her grandson, Matt Olson of Port Moody, Canada; her sister Diane Sabo of Erie, PA, and her nephew Jack (April) Sabo and his family of Conneaut, OH.
Charlotte was preceded in death by Melvin; her parents; her stepfather, Jacob Marttila, whom she loved very much, and her brother, Jack Marttila.
Honoring Charlotte’s wishes, no formal services will be held, and her remains will be scattered in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to a charity of your choosing.
