Clarence L. “Doc” Kuhlmann, of Waukesha, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. He was born on December 31, 1927 in Morrison, Missouri, the son of Alvin and Anna (Nolte) Kuhlmann. After graduating from high school in Hermann, Missouri, Doc served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was given the Purple Heart. He was united in marriage to Susanna DeBack on September 16, 1967. He worked at Rite Point in Missouri until 1953, then transferred to Amron Corporation in Waukesha and worked there until his retirement in 1993. Doc loved gardening and once had 85 rose bushes besides growing fruits and vegetables. He also enjoyed listening to classical music, attending plays, and reading, especially about history and the Civil War. Doc will be sadly missed by his wife, Susanna of Waukesha; his son, Dr. Randall Scott (Carol) Kuhlmann of Brookfield; grandchildren: Allison Laine and Alexis Quinn; and sisters: Dolores Kuhlmann and Rosemarie Bohnenkemper, both of St. Louis, MO. He was the fond brother-in-law of Elaine (Joseph) Pagano, Charles (Elaine) DeBack, Donald (Caroline) DeBack, and Barbara (Lee) Jacobi. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Maurice, sister Anita, and his parents. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 9:00 AM until the funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. State Hwy 59, Waukesha. Fr. James Loehr will preside. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
