Clarence R. “Andy” Anderson, of Sussex, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the age of 80 years. He was born on May 2, 1933 in Big Bend, Wisconsin, the son of Carl and Emelia (nee Johnson) Anderson. On March 12, 1954 he married Elizabeth “Betty” Reed in Coal City, WV; she preceded him in death on November 6, 2011. Andy was known for his generous spirit, adventurous nature, and good humor along with the legendary Christmas Day celebrations he and Betty hosted annually at their former home in Waukesha. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, having served in the Korean War and also enjoyed traveling the world and the Great Lakes as a civilian crewmember of the Merchant Marines. Above all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, along with the many trips he and Betty took over the years including several winters spent in Port Aransas, TX.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters Sherry (Dean) Michaelis of Waukesha and Sandi (Josh) Adams of Milwaukee. Dear grandfather of Kelli Michaelis, Cory Michaelis, and Monica (Jesse) Boyajian, all of Waukesha, and Ed (Coleen) Michaelis of Wauwatosa, and great-grandfather of Spencer, Sadie and Eli Michaelis and Bennett Boyajian. He is further survived by his brother Don (Kate) Anderson of Waupaca, WI, along with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends, including Richard (Joan) Carlson and Garith (the late Virginia “Gin”) Carlson, all of Palmyra. He was preceded in death by Elizabeth “Betty” Anderson, his wife of over 57 years, and sisters Ethel Senderhauf and Marge Tio.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 7:00 p.m. funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Please meet at the cemetery in the green parking area.
