Colleen Ruth Sinder (nee McCammon) passed away peacefully at New Perspective in Waukesha, WI on September 28, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on March 30, 1940, in Omaha, Nebraska to parents Lawrence McCammon and Kathleen (nee Allen) McCammon. Colleen grew up in Omaha from 1940 to 1961 where she attended North High School. Following graduation, she went to the University of Nebraska (UNO) where she received a certificate in Office Administration. Following graduation Colleen went to work for the family business in accounting, and later for E.M.E. Inc. from 1962-1978 in accounting, Serpentix Inc. from 1983-1990 as an administrative assistant, and lastly at MGI Inc. from 1990-2005 as an administrative assistant. On June 6, 1961, Colleen married her husband of 55 years James “Jim” Lee Snider in Omaha, who preceded her in death on December 25, 2016.
Throughout her life Colleen enjoyed being outside whether that be gardening in her flower and vegetable beds or hiking in the mountains of Colorado when she lived in Arvada from 1982-2019. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at their cabin in Fort Francis, Ontario. A faithful woman she volunteered as church secretary and librarian at Arvada Presbyterian Church in Colorado. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and reading. Colleen moved to be closer to her family in 2019 to Menomonee Falls, and then to Waukesha in 2022.
Colleen is survived by her sons; Donald “Don” (Crystal) Snider and Kenneth “Ken” Snider; grandchildren, Grant and Lauren Snider; sister-in-law Janice “Jan” MacDonald (nee Snider); and nephews, Nick, Russel and Christopher McDonald. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 South Grand Avenue, Waukesha, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service. Colleen will be laid to rest privately in Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Colleen’s name are appreciated to Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) of Waukesha, 701 Northview Road, Waukesha; or, The Women’s Center, 505 North East Avenue, Waukesha.
