Constance "Conny" Fries

Constance “Conny” Fries, age 83, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at home on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Conny was born on May 22, 1932 in Crookston, MN the daughter of Earl and Gladys (nee Moen) Sullivan. She graduated from Crookston Central High School in 1950. Conny moved to Chicago in 1951 and worked for Norge in the merchandise mart. Later she worked winters in Sun Valley, Idaho and summers in Chicago.
On February 15, 1958 she married the love of her life Ronald Fries who also was from Crookston. Two children were born of the marriage Ronald Todd and Tracy Elizabeth. In 1977 they were transferred to Waukesha. As a hobby Conny and Ron were into show-cars first owning a 1951 Mercury Coupe and then a 1954 Chevrolet Convertible. They were members of the Waukesha Old Car Club, the Brewtown Cruisers and the Mid-Century Car Club. Conny and Ron were avid travelers and loved visiting places, never leaving until they were able to see all the area had to offer. Weekends were spent dancing, following different Waukesha bands. Conny’s most cherished time, was the time spent with her children and their spouses and her grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son Todd (Kathi) Fries, daughter Tracy (Dave) Thompson, grandchildren Caleb Fries, Hannah (Nick) Custer, Samuel, Caroline and Natalie Thompson, sister Betty Thompson, sisters-in-law Charlotte Sullivan, Dolly Welch, Val Ruwwe and Linda (George) Deckon, Marylee Fries, brothers-in-law Greg (Georgine) Fries and Jim (Mary) Fries. Further survived by many special nieces, nephews and dear friends. Conny was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend Ron of 58 years on March 14, 2016, her parents, brother Billy, nephew Bart Thompson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Eileen and Earl Wilkens and brothers-in-law Bob Sullivan, Joe Fries and Vern Ruwwe.
In accordance with Conny & Ron’s wishes, a memorial service will be held for them this summer. Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha. Memorials are appreciated to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 818 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186.
