David Armitage

August 16, 1922 — February 5, 2009

David F. Armitage, died on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the age of 86. He was born in Waukesha on August 16, 1922 to David and Gladys (nee: Aitken) Armitage. On March 31st, 1956 he married Mary Drotning, of Stoughton, WI.  He graduated from Waukesha High School and entered the Service.  He was stationed in the South Pacific during WWII, serving in both New Guniea and the Phillipines. After returning home, he became a member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard. David began his career at the Fire Insurance Rating Bureau in Milwaukee, WI. He transferred to the Western Actuarial Bureau in Chicago, IL, where he retired after 30 years of service. He and his wife Mary retired to Waukesha to be near friends and family. David was an avid member of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose International, Masonic Lodge #37 F&AM, and the American Legion D.J. Martin Post #8. He is survived by his sister Sally Bakkom of Waukesha; Nephew David Bakkom of Cedar Grove; and Niece Susan (Scott) Thompson and family of Waukesha. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Armitage, brother John Armitage, and brother-in-law Dick Bakkom. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb, 21, 2009  at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. from 11:00 AM until  12:00 PM  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM.  Graveside services with full military honors will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
