David C. Brisk, a lifelong Waukesha resident, died at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the age of 79. He was born in Waukesha on August 12, 1940 the son of Clyde W. and Gladys M. (nee Torrison) Brisk. Dave was a member of the first graduating class of Waukesha South High School in 1958. On September 2, 1961 he married Geraldine Bauer. Following high school, he enlisted in The Wisconsin National Guard and went to Fort Leonard Wood for basic training and then to Fort Gordon for Signal School. He was involved in the call up in 1961 for the Berlin Wall Crisis and was stationed at Fort Lewis Washington. He attained the rank of sergeant in the 32nd Red Arrow Division. Dave was a dedicated member of the DJ Martin American Legion Post 8 where he was commander for nine years. He was also past State Vice Commander and District Commander of the American Legion. He also served for over 20 years as a director, on the board of Randle Dable Brisk Funeral Home Inc.
Dave was employed for 37 years in quality control at Wisconsin Centrifugal. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, metal detecting, going to his cabin in Glidden, WI; and going to his daughter’s cabin in the town of Beaver, WI.
He was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where his grandparents were charter members, and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the nurses and aides of the oncology unit at Waukesha Memorial hospital for their kindness and care.
He is loved and will be sadly missed by his wife Gerry Brisk of Waukesha; son, Lee (Cathy) Brisk and daughter, Gina (Mike Beres) Brisk all of Waukesha; grandchildren, Alison Brisk, Tara Britten, Cole Britten and Katie Brisk. He is further survived by his brother, Tom (Martha) Brisk and nephews: Ben Brisk, and Brian Brisk and niece Becky Brisk. He is also survived by his great nephew, Landon Brisk, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. An American Legion Funeral Service will be held at 8:00PM. Visitation continues Friday, September 13th from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll Street, Waukesha, WI 53186. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to Camp American Legion, 8529 County D, Lake Tomahawk, WI 54539.
