David Carstens, of Waukesha, was called home by his Lord Jesus Christ on December 7, 2017. David was born April 29, 1931 to Rudolph Carstens and Anne Wandschneider. He attended Washington High School in Milwaukee where he played on the 1948 city championship football team. Following high school, David attended Milwaukee State Teachers College where he was a starter on the varsity football team and met Joanne Williams who he married in 1952.
David graduated from Carroll College with majors in Biology and Education and earned a Masters in Educational Administration from Marquette University. He was a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent in the Waukesha Public Schools and later also served as an assistant superintendent in West Allis.
David is survived by Joanne, his wife of 65 years, their five children: Linda, Howard, Natalie, Nancy, Tom, and nine grandchildren.
David will be remembered in a memorial service at Elm Grove Lutheran Church, 945 Terrace Dr., Elm Grove, WI 53122 Saturday, December 9th with visitation at 3pm and service at 4pm followed by an informal reception at Heritage Place in Brookfield. The church and Heritage Place are already beautifully decorated for Christmas and have requested no additional flowers.
