David "Dave" L. Gramling

November 24, 1942 — May 16, 2016

David “Dave” L. Gramling, of Waukesha, died on Monday, May 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family following a brave fight against ALS at age 73. He was born in Syracuse, NY on November 24, 1942 the son of William and Helen (nee Kuhn) Gramling. Dave was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Marquette University. Dave was a longtime banker for Waukesha State Bank. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Following the death of his first wife Lynne in 2006; Dave married Carol Jarvis (nee Jandt) in 2010. Dave enjoyed black powder shooting, golfing, traveling and loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events. As a silent leader, he led by his actions and examples. Dave was genuine, generous, kind and loved by everyone. He handled his disease with grace, strength and courage and never complained. His quick wit and great sense of humor stayed with him until the end. To those who knew Dave, he was a stubborn old goat; and to those who didn’t, knew him as tenacious and persistent. He will be lovingly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Carol (Jarvis) Gramling of Waukesha, his daughters, Amy (Brian) Fulton of Dousman, Laura (David) Turner of Midway, UT and Sarah (Michael) Malewicki of Brookfield and his step-daughters Cathy (Al) Solowicz of Neenah and Beth (Mike Runge) Bergman of Hartland. He was the dear grandfather of Jacob, Erin, Joe, Mikayla, Benjamin, Shay, Samuel and Trevor and step-grandfather of Jenny, Ally, Sam, Katey, Abby, Emma and Gracie. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Anch (Lesley) Gramling of Cape Coral, FL, Peter (Pat) Gramling of Waukesha, Tori Gramling of Mukwonago and Tut (Dan Dingmann) Gramling of Baraboo along with cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving and devoted friends. In addition to his first wife Lynne, he was preceded in death by his parents.
