David A. Jacob

July 4, 1928 — March 24, 2025

Brookfield

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of David A Jacob “Boompa”, who passed away peacefully at AngelsGrace Hospice on March 24, 2025 at the age of 96. David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by many.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 4, 1928 to Esther and HB Jacob. David graduated from Crane High School and attended the University of Illinois at Champaign. He married Mary Valentine Jacob on September 16,1950, and they were blessed with 5 children. He lived a true city life in Chicago, driving a bus for the CTA and working as a lifeguard at North Avenue Beach. He spent many days with Mary jumping off the rocks into Lake Michigan and nights dancing at the Aragon Ballroom and The Riviera. After marring, Dave began his 42 year career with ALSCO Corporation. Initially he was at the Chicago office. He then transferred to Billings, Montana, Ogden, Utah, returning to Chicago, and finishing his career at the Milwaukee, Wisconsin office.

At their home, in Brookfield, you could find Dave on his riding lawn mower and chatting with neighbors. Everyone was welcome on the screened porch for a cold beer, out of his favorite tapper. He would enjoy watching the Brewer’s games on TV later in life, but he was a true blue Cubbies fan, attending many games with family and friends over the years. Dave was a swimmer well into his nineties. He also enjoyed tennis and racket ball. He was always a lover of motorcycles, starting with an Indian, he shared with his older brother. As soon as he retired, he bought the first of three Harley’s. He took road trips all over the US. He volunteered at Elmbrook Hospital for 18 years and thoroughly enjoyed interacting the patients as he took them to their appointments.

In 2017, Dave and Mary moved to Lake Terrace East apartments, on the Shorehaven Campus, in Oconomowoc, Wi. They quickly formed wonderful friendships, with both residents and staff, over the next eight years. He took care of Mary until she passed and then spent his last years swimming, watching Packers and Bucks games, and walking or riding his scooter along the lake. Everyone that met Dave was touched by his kindness and generosity.

Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Valentine, his son, Gregory and his brother, Samuel. He is survived by his children: Debbie Jones (Bob), David Jacob (John), Cheryl Butendorf (Bob), and Randi Bellios (Nick); grandchildren: Nikki, Kelly, Kori, Josh, William, Bradley, and Ryder; great-grandchildren: Brodie, Jacob, Sam, Penelope, Lincoln, Cameron and Zoey.

The entire staff at AngelsGrace Hospice work tirelessly to make it such a very special place. We are forever grateful. In appreciation for the most amazing care and genuine kindness, memorials in Dave’s name can be made to AngelsGrace Hospice, N74-W35908 Servants’ Way, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.

Honoring Dave’s wishes, the family will celebrate his life privately.
