Waukesha-David F. Sorensen, 82, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the Avalon Square, where he resided with his wife, Jean. He was born in Hartland on March 16, 1924 to Frank and Viola (nee: Mathisen) Sorensen. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, 276th Field Artillery Battalion as an artillery mechanic and also 82nd Airborne Division during WW II. On June 14, 1947 he married Jean (nee:Wirth) Sorensen. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for 37 years and was very involved in many aspects of the church. He had been employed at Wisconsin Electric for 36 years serving as troublemen for 18 years, then as District Dispatch Supervisor in Southern and Northern Metro Divisions. He retired in 1985 as Assistant Superintendent of Electrical Operation at the Pewaukee Service Center. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean of Waukesha and their five children: Lynn (James) Walter-Gibbs of Dousman; Susan (Michael) Schieber of Spring Grove, MN; Pamela ( fiancée Kenneth Burnett) Williams of Jefferson; Jeffrey (Susan) Sorensen of Waukesha; Joan Sorensen of Madison. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Karen Walter of Dallas, TX; Brian (Angela) Walter of Seattle, WA; Elizabeth (Michael) Ehr of LaCrosse; Andrew Schieber of St. Louis Park, MN; Jennifer Schieber of LaCrosse; Greta (Adam) Pagel of Minneapolis; Nicholas Sorensen of Waukesha, Benjamin Williams of Milwaukee; two great grandchildren, Katelyn Doyle of Dallas, TX; Valentine Pagel of Minneapolis and brothers, Donald (Ethel) Sorensen of Madison; Richard Sorensen of Lake Geneva; brother-in-law Tom (Carol) Wirth of Hiles, WI; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister June Hanisch and grandson David Schieber Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2006 at St. John?s Lutheran Church, 20275 Davidson Road from 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM Funeral Service. The Rev. David Meissner is officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place at Highland Memorial Park on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
