Donald A. Marx of Waukesha passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Seasons Hospice surrounded by his family of pancreatic cancer at age 76. Don was born in Milwaukee on October 10, 1939, the son of Earl A. and Gertrude (nee Mierzwa) Marx. He grew up in Milwaukee attending Pulaski High School. He worked for Evinrude Motors as a machinist for 36 years. After retirement he worked for Waukesha County as a groundskeeper at Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls. Don enjoyed golf and bowling, movies, going out for dinner and playing cribbage with his good friends, Jan and Dan, Jack and Loie, John and Ellen, and Louanne and John. In 1965 he married the love of his life, Bernadine “Bernie” (nee Jarvis) Marx and together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary September 18, 2015.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Bernadine of Waukesha and their children, Margaret “Meg” Schears of Oconomowoc and Michael (Sarah) Marx of Hartford along with his precious granddaughter Hannah and new baby Marx due in April. He is also survived by his sister Joanne Hoppe of Florida along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wayne.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Visitation continues on Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Father Curt Frederick will preside. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials in Don’s name are appreciated to St. William Catholic Church (address above) or to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
