Donald Plehn

December 27, 1921 — February 8, 2009

Donald M. "Don" Plehn, lifelong Waukesha resident, died on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Waukesha Springs at the age of 87.  He was born on December 27, 1921 in Waukesha, the son of Fred and Gertrude (nee Hoppe) Plehn.  On June 19, 1948 he married Marie Bergels in Waukesha. Don served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 until 1945 and was later employed at Grede Foundry in Waukesha for many years.  He was the previous owner of "Junque Haven" and an active member of the Songsters in Waukesha.  Don and his wife volunteered at Waukesha Springs for over 20 years and won the "Volunteers of the Year" award.  He was a longtime member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He will be sadly missed by his wife, Marie of Waukesha, children: Donna (Scott) Doughty of Waukesha and Donald (Pam) Plehn of Oconomowoc; grandchildren: Jason Doughty, Jennifer (Nate) Holm, Carrie (D.J.) Bowe, and Josh Plehn; and 6 great-grandchildren: Payton, Paige, Mikka, Ava, Celine and Olivia. He is further survived by his brother, Fred (Ilah) Plehn, sisters-in-law: Aneta and Dorothy Plehn, all of Waukesha, along with other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Loren and David Plehn.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 5:00 until the 7:00PM funeral service at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.  Rev. Arthur Koepsell will preside.  Graveside services will be held privately at Prairie Home Cemetery.  Memorials are appreciated to the Salvation Army, 445 Madison Street, Waukesha, WI 53188.
