Doris A. Neumann

June 30, 1918 — September 27, 2018

Doris A. Neumann was born to Alfred and Louisa (Roesler) Mittelstadt on June 30, 1918 in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. She peacefully passed away at her daughter Karen May’s home with her son Dean Neumann and daughter Karen at her side on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the age of 100 years, 2 months, and 27 days.
Doris graduated from Fall Creek High in 1934 and from the Milwaukee School of Beauty Culture in 1936.
Doris met her husband, Royal C. Neumann who was from Fort Atkinson, WI at her family’s hotel (The St. Charles) in Fall Creek while Royal was working with the REA (Rural Electrification Act of 1936) putting up poles and lines in the area. They were married in Fall Creek, October 15, 1939.
They left Fall Creek and traveled around with their German Shepherd dog ‘Mack’ to different areas in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Indiana in a small trailer camping-out with other families in their REA group. They finally settled in Waukesha, WI in the early 1940’s where Royal worked for Salter Electric until he opened his own business known as Neumann Electric. Doris became the bookkeeper/accountant until they both retired in their 60’s.
During their life in Waukesha, Doris and Royal became very involved with the First Methodist Church. Doris spent many hours helping in the kitchen, involved in the socials and the Senior group. She was a Brownie Girls Scout leader for the troupe thru the church. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing beautiful dresses and coats for her young daughters as well as herself. She loved to cook her special spaghetti, chocolate cake and her fudge for potluck dinners and family get togethers. Decorating their home for holiday parties was her passion. Doris and Royal enjoyed dancing with the many friends they had over the years. She loved to go camping with Royal and son Dean to where ever the spirit moved them.
Later years, Doris and Royal attended Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI. She was an avid Bible reader; became involved in Bible study classes as well as the senior group. She was a greeter before services where she made many new friends. Doris was always trying to get new people to become Christians.
Their love continued through WW2 until Royal’s death in August 7, 2010. They were married for almost 72 years
During their marriage, she had four children: Carol Ann (Jerome) Petrie, Karen Doris (William) May, Royal Jr., and Dean (Carol) Neumann
