Douglas C. Huggett of Waukesha died on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at LifeCare Hospital at the age of 80. He was born in Lansing, MI on December 23, 1935 the son of Clare and Madelyn (nee Eaton) Huggett. He was a 1953 graduate of Lansing Sexton High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Albion College and his master’s degree in zoology from Michigan State University. He started his teaching career in Vassar, MI before moving to Waukesha. He began teaching for the Waukesha School District in 1962 where he met his wife Ann (Atkinson) Huggett. They were married on June 20, 1964 and Ann preceded him in death on January 1, 2015. Doug taught in the Waukesha School District as a biology, chemistry and physics teacher for 34.5 years. While being a teacher, he also enjoyed coaching, chaperoning dances with his wife and running the school science club. Doug enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, studying genealogy, being a member of the Waukesha Golden K Kiwanis and attending the Blackshirt Breakfast Group on Friday mornings. Along with his wife Ann, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed participating in the church festivals and coaching 6th grade football. He found great joy in coaching but most of all was proud of his family.
He will be sadly missed by his children James (Melissa) Huggett of Oshkosh, Jerry (Jennifer) Huggett of Waukesha and Holly (Richard) Pollex of Waukesha and his grandchildren, Nicole and Meghan Pollex and Madalyn, Sam and Caitlin Huggett. He is further survived by his brother David (Rosemary) Huggett of The Villages, FL, his brothers-in-law Tom (Marian) Atkinson of Jefferson and Jim (Dianne) Atkinson of North Prairie along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, Ann, he was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Ann Huggett and his sisters Marilyn Graham.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Waukesha Youth Football and Cheerleading P.O.
