Edward “Ed” Bloede, formerly of North Prairie, died on Thursday, June 24, 2010 surrounded by his family at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age 87. He was born in Waukesha on March 10, 1923 to William and Mary (nee Miek) Bloede. Ed was a 1941 graduate of Waukesha High School. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII first in a finance office in Salt Lake City before being deployed to Europe. Ed worked for the First National Bank for 25 years then owned and operated Sunset Beverage Mart from 1960 until his retirement in 1985. On June 14, 1974 he married Doris Vanderburg. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, a member of the Waukesha Elks Club #400 and a member of the DJ Martin Post #8. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 36 years, Doris Vanderburg-Bloede formerly of North Prairie; his children: Mark (Carol) Bloede and John Bloede both of Waukesha; step-children: Richard (Kathy) Vanderburg of Niceville, FL; Peter (Kathy) Vanderburg of Norman, OK; and Stephen Vanderburg of Barnes, WI, his grandchildren: Ashley Bloede of Waukesha, Greg (Rebecca) Bloede of West Bend, Kirstin Bloede and Maribeth Bloede both of Wauwatosa, his step-grandchildren: Peter Scott (Debbie) Vanderburg of Plano, TX, Billy (Julye) Vanderburg of Norman, OK, Matthew (Melissa) Vanderburg of Norman, OK, Jennifer Vanderburg of Hayward and Trever (Melissa) Vanderburg of Superior, his great-granddaughter Breanna Bloede and his step-great-grandchildren: Julyeun, Cody, Jakob, Peter Scott III, Samantha and Myah. He is further survived by his sisters: Mabel Winchester and Erma Carr both of Waukesha along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Ervin and sister Lorraine. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:30PM at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service will be held at 7:30PM followed by the funeral service at 8:00PM all at the funeral home. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Genesee.
