Edward J. Connell, Jr. of Waukesha, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at his home at the age of 79. He was born on September 30, 1928 in Waukesha, the son of Edward Sr. and Elizabeth (Rankin) Connell. He was a 1945 graduate of Waukesha High School and attended Carroll College. Ed served with the 32nd Division of the Wisconsin Army National Guard. He was called to active duty in 1961 and achieved the rank of captain during his service. For many years he owned and operated E.J. Connell & Son, a farm implement business located first in Waukesha and later in Genesee Depot. Ed enjoyed fishing with his sons and grandchildren at Genesee Lake near Dousman. He was especially proud of his undefeated record as heavy weight boxing champion while in the National Guard. Ed is survived by his four children, daughter Jane (Scott) Hall of Saint Paul, Minnesota; and sons John (Lorrie) Connell of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; James (Lori) Connell of Jackson, Michigan; and Thomas (Jeanine) Connell of Hayward, Wisconsin. He will be missed by his seven grandchildren, Ashley, Shannon, William, Kathleen, Robert, Ian and Nyla. He is also survived by his sister Audrey Faulkner of Madison, Wisconsin and his former wife Mary Connell of Waukesha. A private family service will be held at a later date.
