Edward Thomas Sheahan

Edward Thomas “Tom” Sheahan II of Waukesha and Florida, passed away unexpectedly at his Waukesha home joining his son Scott in Heaven on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the age of 77. He was born in Taylorville, IL on August 3, 1939 the son of Edward Thomas and Helen (nee Albers) Sheahan. On November 29, 1958, he married his beloved wife Carolyn Weart. Tom earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Chicago and had a successful career working in healthcare administration. Early in his career he worked as assistant administrator of two small hospitals in Iowa and then as associate administrator of St. Vincent Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He went on to work as President of Central Management Corporation of the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation in North Dakota and then the Sisters of Providence in Massachusetts. After several years of traveling for his career, Tom missed the Midwest. So, in 1986 he brought his wife and three children home to the Midwest and became the First President and Chief Executive Office of Wheaton Franciscan Health Care, which later became Covenant Healthcare. After a fulfilling and rewarding career, Tom retired in 1999.

Tom was an aggressive sportsman and had a reputation as a solid golfer, fisherman, racquetball player and baseball player. He even had the opportunity to play professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all, Tom loved his family, was an excellent joke teller and will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carolyn of Waukesha/Florida and their loving children, Michael (Amie Rahe) Sheahan of Madison and Ann (Fred) Howard of Waukesha. He was the dear grandfather of Jacob Schladweiler, Samuel Sheahan and Maedolyn Howard and cherished brother of David (Jeanie) Sheahan. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Scott on January 31, 2017.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. A brief visitation will continue Thursday, June 22nd at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
