Elizabeth “Liz” A. Bowe a lifelong Waukesha resident was born to Eternal Life on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 97. She was born in Waukesha on March 7, 1922 the daughter of William J. and Ella E. (nee Merten) Bowe. She was a 1939 graduate of Waukesha High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Marquette University. She proudly served her country in the United States Navy WAVES from 1943 until 1946 where she was stationed in San Francisco and was an alumnus of the WAVES Badger Unit. Liz worked for the Medical College, retiring in 1984 after 20 years of service. She was an avid reader, loved the Northwoods of Wisconsin, playing board games and cards and was a fan of all Wisconsin sports, especially Marquette Basketball and the Brewers. Liz found great joy in traveling, taking many cruises and visiting Ireland, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Australia. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family and loved family gatherings.
She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, Ellen (Jeff) Ehlers of Denver, CO, Patricia Frazier of Madison, Daniel (Laurel) Bowe of Cedarburg and Michael (Linda) Bowe of Franklin, 11 great nieces and nephews, one great-great niece and one great-great nephew along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Jane (Bert) Ehrisman and Eleanor Bowe and brother William (Carolyn) Bowe.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the 12:00 noon funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. Father Howard Haase will preside. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
