Elizabeth A. Williamson, of Waukesha, died on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at The Virginia Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 89. She was born on November 5, 1921 in Neenah, WI to Dr. and Mrs. John Michael Donovan. She was a graduate of Neenah High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, MN. Upon graduation Elizabeth was employed as a lab technician in the Serology Department of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. On March 2, 1946, Elizabeth married Dr. Ladislao Mark Williamson of Santiago, Chile. They were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the family parish. Following their marriage, Elizabeth and her husband moved to Santiago, Chile, where her husband had his practice in neurosurgery. They lived in Chile for a period of 12 years before returning to the United States in 1959. Elizabeth and her husband lived in Wisconsin where her husband continued his practice. While in Chile, Elizabeth was active in the American Women’s Association that performed charitable work. She also belonged to the Elizabeth Bayley Seton Society, an organization that benefits those in need. Here in the United States Elizabeth belonged to the Women’s Medical Auxiliary of Wausau and the American Red Cross Hospital Organization throughout the years. She contributed to numerous charitable organizations and parishes, including the Christian Mothers Society. Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Waukesha. Elizabeth was the loving mother of Elizabeth (Don) Matthis of Greenfield, Kathryn (Ken) Barela, Orlando, FL; Rosemary (Ted) Peters, Eagan, MN; Susan (Richard) Garfinkel of New Berlin and Mark Williamson of Pewaukee. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all of them. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Ladislao Mark Williamson, son John Malcolm Williamson, great-granddaughter Ava Monroe Elliott and brothers Dr. Michael Donovan and Dr. John Donovan. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26 from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 (Noon) funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha. Rev. Howard Haase will preside.
