Elsie Wachowitz, born on June 22, 1917 and born to eternal life May 10, 2008. Adoring wife and mother, aunt, grandmother, great-aunt, and great-grandmother, Elsie was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and lived in Wales Great Britain for a time in her youth. A graduate of Shorewood High School, Elsie went on to graduate magna cum laude with a degree in law from Court TV. Over the course of her life Elsie worked at the Waukesha Public Library, as a secretary for both a car dealership and a real estate company, and tended the Walgreens Drug Store jewelry counter. A passionate woman, her great loves included her husband Wally and her family, playing video poker (especially in Las Vegas), bridge and other card games. She was a fervent golfer and a lifetime member of Merrill Hills Country Club. Elsie enjoyed bowling in many leagues, tournaments and pot games; and had the honor of induction to the Waukesha Bowling Hall of Fame in 1995. Elsie was a devoted sports fan, both watching and attending many basketball, bowling, golf, tennis and football events brought her great joy. Elsie inspired many nicknames from friends and family; a few of these included Muzzy, Elsie the Great, and Gabby. We all enjoyed her unique turn of a phrase, biting wit and entertaining stories. Elsie was a great lover of animals, chocolate and especially the simple pleasure of a cigarette and a cup of Mary's coffee. Elsie is survived by daughters Mary Ellen (Craig) Bear, Sr., Jill Ann Collins (Paul Hill) both of Waukesha, son Walter Wachowitz III of Baraboo, favorite (and only) Niece Kathy Vick and brother-in-law Stanley Piza. Elsie's grandchildren: Elizabeth (Betsy) Bear, Kristin Leigh Bear, Noah Daniel (Jenny) Collins, Craig Edward (Heather) Bear, Jr. and Matthew Spencer Collins, and favorite (and only) great-grandniece Stacy Vick further survive her. "Elsie the Great" had six great-grandchildren Jaryn Isabel Bear, Quinn Patrick Collins, Lila Paige Collins, Natalie Nicole Bear, Damien Patrick Collins, and Nessa Roisin Bear. She was preceded in death by her parents Ellen and Hugh Lloyd, her husband Walter Wachowitz Jr., in-laws Angeline and Walter Wachowitz Sr., sister-in-law June "Tutu" Piza, grandson John Walter Collins and son-in-law David Betry. The remaining members of her fan club include her Las Vegas "roomie" Kay Cullen, the "best story teller" Ginger Holm, Alex Trebeck, Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods. There will be a private service for the family. In lieu of flowers the memorials can be made in Elsie's honor to the Waukesha Women's Center, P.O.
