Ervin “Erv” G. Scheets, of Waukesha and Brookfield, died on September 11, 2016 at the age of 87. He was born on July 19, 1929 the youngest of three sons to Ervin W. and Emma (nee Brunner) Scheets. Erv was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active with the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1825 where he was a past Grand Knight. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Johnson Sand and Gravel for nearly 40 years. Erv proudly served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and was a member of the D.J. Martin American Legion Post #8. On October 22, 1949 he married Violet D. Lasky and they celebrated nearly 50 years of happiness together.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jeffrey Poulin of Manassas, Virginia; and son and daughter-in-law, Ervin Jr. and Susy Scheets of Spring, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of Shauna Scheets (William LeFave), Ervin Scheets III, Sierra Scheets (Nicholas Hochhalter), and Justin Scheets; and great-grandfather to Liam LeFave. He is also survived by his cousin Joseph Brunner and sister-in-law Marlene Brunner, other cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet D. Scheets, and brothers, John H. and Elmer F. Scheets.
The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Avalon Square, Silverado Brookfield, and Seasons Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Services will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, September 17th with prayers beginning at 9:15 a.m. followed by the procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186 for the 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Father Javier Bustos will preside. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
