Ethel “Bunny” Richards Pollatz, age 90, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born Ethel Kurtz on November 8, 1924, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Fredrick and Norma Kurtz. She was a graduate of Waukesha High School. Bunny was united in marriage to Robert E. Richards on April 15, 1944, and was married for 50 years before Robert’s death. Together, they worked hard and raised three children. Bunny enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and traveling. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha. Later in life, she met and married Kenneth Pollatz, who resides at Linden Grove Nursing Home in Waukesha.
She is survived by Kenneth Pollatz; her three children, Bonnie (Leo) Schlimgen of Middleton, Daniel (Karen) Richards of Waukesha and Cynthia (Randy) LaRue of Mukwonago; her step-children, Cynthia (Robert) Blakely and Mary (Dale) Stiegelbauer; six grandchildren, Kelly Mitchell, Timothy (Kimberly) Mitchell, Jacob (Sarah) Richards, Lucas (Torie) Richards, Kevin (Nikki) Ruege and Erin Ruege; her step-grandchildren, Anne Schlimgen and Katie (Dan) Knapp; five great-grandchildren, Alexander Mitchell, Kesley Mitchell, Nolan Richards, Dylan Richards and Chloe Mitchell; step-great-grandchildren, Shannon and Benjamin Caldwell and her dear friend Pam McNulty. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Robert Richards.
A funeral service celebrating Ethel’s life will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll Street, Waukesha, WI 53186 with visitation from 4:00PM until the time of the 5:00PM service. Reverend Gary Liedtke will preside. Private interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery.
