Florence Bischoff of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Aug. 1, 2018, at AngelsGrace Hospice which is near her birthplace on the family farm in the Town of Erin. She was born Dec. 11, 1922 to Walter and Clara (née Lepien) Roemer.
Florence graduated from Hartford High School in 1940 and moved to Milwaukee to work as a bookkeeper at Helwig Co., where she met her husband-to-be, Ralph Bischoff. Ralph returned from serving as a pilot in WWII and they were married in 1947 in the Town of Erin. They moved to Waukesha where Florence became a homemaker. She enjoyed exercise classes at the YWCA and travel in the US and abroad. At age 89 she moved to Avalon Square where she enthusiastically participated in their many activities.
Florence is survived by her three daughters: Barbara (Daniel) Takkunen, Madison; Linda (Paul) Rieger, Folsom, CA; Kay (Terry) Nicholson, Waukesha. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kristin (Geoffrey) Klein, Erik (Emily) Takkunen, Stephanie and Shannon (fiancé Aleksis Bertoni) Rieger, and by her great-grandchildren Carson and Alexa Klein, and Harper and Brooks Takkunen. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and her two siblings.
Services will be held Sat., Aug. 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Avalon Square Chapel, 222 Park Place, Waukesha, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Florence's name to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Florence's parents and her brother.
