Floyd Wayne Rittler “Wayne” of Waukesha passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. He was born in Mundelein, IL on February 12, 1927 and was the son of Floyd and Mary (nee Rouse) Rittler. He was 1945 graduate of Mukwonago High School. On October 4, 1947 he married Mary Ellen Rath; she preceded him in death on June 22, 2015. Wayne was a stone mason and worked in this capacity most of his life. His stonework can be seen all over the eastern part of the country as well as the Milwaukee Co. Zoo and the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign. Together they raised their family in Menomonee Falls, and in 1989 they moved to Colorado to be closer to family living there. They then returned to Wisconsin in 2009 after the children had grown.
He will be sadly missed by his extended family and children, Gary (Ivy Crossland) Rittler of Hawaii, Jody (the late Gary) Hartley of Waukesha and Rebecca (James Lembeck) Tompkins of Colorado, his grandchildren, Oakes Rittler, Payat (Anna) Rittler, Jonas Hartley, Benjamin (Julie) Hartley and Jessica Tompkins and great-grandchildren Holly, Emma, Tyler, Caleb, Eloise, Grace and Simon. He is further survived by his twin sister Mary Jane Woods and sister Donna (the late Don) Gottschalk, his brother John (Connie) Rittler along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Mary and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Hoskins, Pat Williams and Betty Rittler.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 11:00AM until the time of the 1:00PM funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Private entombment will take place on Monday at Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee.
