Fran J. Vedner, of Waukesha, formerly of Oconomowoc, went to be in the arms of his Savior on Monday, September 26, 2011 with his life partner Doreen by his side following a long battle with his health at the age of 64. Fran was born on December 28, 1946 the son of Francis and Belva (nee Huebschen) Vedner. Fran was born and raised in Oconomowoc and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. Following graduation he obtained the job of his life at HUSCO in Waukesha where he later retired. He also worked many odd jobs. In June of 1967, he married Donna Fish and to this union two children were born: Marcia Ann Vedner Smith and Robert Paul Vedner. They lived in many places ending in Hartland. Fran enjoyed wine-making, photography and the sight of hand magic which he shared with his best friend Paul. His love of cookbooks brought him to open a cookbook store for several years. Fran was a veteran of the Army National Guard Red Arrow Unit stationed out of Oconomowoc from 1965 until 1971. Fran is survived by one daughter, Marcia (Allen) Vedner-Smith of Teague, TX; one son, Robert Vedner of Sherman, TX; three grandchildren, Christopher Golly of Lincoln, NE; Clarissa Patton of Teague, TX; and Brady Patton of Minneapolis, MN; four great-grandchildren; his life partner Doreen Harris of Sussex; two sisters: Claudia (Donald) Dibble of Merton; Mary Sodergren (significant other Duane Gensheimer) of Stephenson, MI; nieces, Karen (Brian) Barker of New Berlin; Stephanie (Ronald) Sodergren-Klein of Wallace, MI; nephews, Dennis Dibble of Merton; Brian (Debra) Sodergren of Stephenson, MI; Bradley Sodergren of Stephenson, MI; and several great nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Fran was preceded in death by his parents Francis & Belva Vedner, one granddaughter Danielle Vedner and his longtime friend Paul Speiglehoff. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 4:00 until the 7:00PM funeral service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.
