Frederick N. Schmidt, 97, of Waukesha, passed peacefully to eternal life on January 20, 2015, after a short illness. Fred was born August 21, 1917, in Eagle, to the late Dr. Frederick M. and Laura Schmidt. On August 31, 1940, Fred married Gertrude L. Andofer.
Fred founded F.N. Schmidt & Associates, a sales agency firm. He was an avid pilot and proud member of the Quiet Birdmen.
As an Eagle Scout of 81 years, Fred was an active scouter throughout his life having served as Potawatomi Area Council President and recognized with the Silver Beaver Award, St. George Medal, and the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout award. He was honored that 4 sons and 7 grandchildren also achieved the Eagle rank.
He leaves behind one daughter, Kay (Bill) Davies, St. Louis Park, MN, and five sons: Dr. Tom (Linda) Schmidt, Brookfield, WI; Fred (Teresa) Schmidt, De Pere, WI; John (Carol) Schmidt, Mukwonago, WI; Bill (Bette) Schmidt, Waukesha, WI; and Dr. Joe (Julie) Schmidt, Dousman, WI.
He will be remembered forever by his grandchildren, Laura (Rob) Anderson, Edina, MN; Matt (Michelle Banta) Davies, Golden Valley, MN; Mike (Rebecca) Davies, Austin, TX; Alison Schmidt, Kerala, India; Amy Rosenberg, Los Angeles, CA; Beth (Adam) Abler, Green Bay, WI; Todd Schmidt, Chicago, IL; Reed Schmidt, Chicago, IL; Diana (Jeff) Endres, Verona, WI; Drew Schmidt, Mukwonago, WI; Dr. Derek Schmidt, Waukesha, WI; Paige Schmidt (fiancé Alex Coulter), Waukesha, WI; Nic Schmidt, Dousman, WI; and Angela Schmidt, Dousman, WI.
Fred was thrilled to be great grandfather to Lindsey and Will Anderson; Ava Perez; Aston and Ellison Abler; and Samantha and Andrea Davies.
He will also be fondly remembered by special family friends Paul & Kathy Erdmann and Bruce & Carol Erdmann.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude, brother Thomas Schmidt and two granddaughters, Leslie and Rachel Schmidt.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Martin Kern and the nursing staff of Linden Grove Waukesha.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. A second visitation will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 9:30 AM until the 10:45AM eulogy followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. State Hwy 59, Waukesha, WI 53189. Reverend Curt Frederick will preside. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
