Frederick J. Rich, a lifelong Waukesha area resident, died on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 90. He was born in Waukesha on October 25, 1925 youngest of 9 children born to Julius and Mary (nee Scoigletti) Rich. Frederick was a graduate of Waukesha High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. On July 26, 1952 he married Dorothy Miller and for 62 years they cherished each other and did everything together until her death on December 30, 2014. Frederick owned The Strand Tavern for 20 years, worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the United States Postal Service and in retirement at Kohl’s Department Store. He was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Frederick will always be remembered as an outgoing salesman and good friend.
He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Avalon Square and Seasons Hospice for their kindness and care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 10:00AM until the time of the 11:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Father Howard Haase will preside. Private interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mary Catholic Church.
