Frederick N. Stockinger

August 2, 1931 — July 9, 2015

Frederick “Fred” N. Stockinger, a lifelong Waukesha resident, died on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Matthews of Hartland at the age of 83. He was born in Waukesha on August 2, 1931 the son of John and Frances Stockinger. In his younger days Fred could be seen walking all around Waukesha as he was always very health conscious and fit. He worked at Bon Ton bottling company for many years. In recent years, Fred moved from the rooming house near Carroll College that he lived in most of his adult life to an assisted living facility. He had a big heart and a willing ear for anyone he encountered at that house, especially Dean, who helped him run errands.

Fred had a soft spot for animals and always enjoyed when his niece’s blue heeler Sydney would visit.

Fred never had anything negative to say. He was a sweet, kind and truly loveable person. From Fred, you learned to enjoy the little things, to take every task, no matter how small seriously, always search for quality in anything you want to purchase, AND to keep a sharp eye on the "use by" dates on the products!

He is survived by his nephews Frank (Julie) Stockinger, John (Mary) Stockinger and Bette Jo (John) Heinrichs, grand-nephews Michael John, Colin and grand-niece Morgan along with many other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John, George, Joe and Frank. Fred is now happy to be with his brothers and Mom Fanny and "Mary" who took him in after the death of his mom.

Fred’s niece, Julie wishes to extend a special thank you to Lisa Bryske and Laura Ellis from Care Wisconsin for helping find that awesome new home for Fred! He didn't know if he would like being away from his friends on College Ave. but he settled right in.

The staff and Fred’s “family” the last four years at Matthews of Hartland will miss him greatly, especially Mike, Nelly, Piper, Roxanne and Molly who had the biggest impact on him during his stay there. The entire staff will miss Fred coming down to meals late on daily basis, and miss his silly reasons why. They will miss his stories and his laughter. He never liked to participate in the activities but every once in a while they were able to convince him to and he would smile the whole time.

Honoring Fred’s wishes, no services will be held. Because of Fred’s love for animals, memorials are appreciated to HAWS, 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
