Frederick J. “Fred” Jones, of Waukesha, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 72 years. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 18, 1940 the son of Louis and Elizabeth (nee Ward) Jones. On August 10, 1963 he married Gayle Buch in Slinger, WI. Fred was a 1963 graduate of Carroll College and earned his Master’s degree in 1965 from UWM in Guidance Counseling and Administration. Fred started his career teaching at Lawrence School and then taught at Hadfield Elementary, before becoming the principal/teacher at West Complex and later principal at Meadowbrook Elementary finishing his career teaching at Prairie Elementary School. Fred was very active in his sons’ lives and coached their boy’s soccer teams. He loved baseball and was an exceptional golfer. He started golfing when he was four years old and golfed on Carroll College’s golf team. Along with his wife he was a longtime member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Waukesha where he was a member of the church school board.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Gayle Jones of Waukesha and their sons, Kent (Sonya) Jones of Newnan, GA and Ryan (Heather) Jones of Brookfield along with his four precious grandchildren, Nathaniel Jones of Newnan, GA and Lelah, Boyd and Solene Jones of Brookfield. He is further survived by his brother Richard (Diane) Jones of Sheboygan along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 9:30AM until the 11:30AM funeral service at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Reverend Peter A. Schmidt will preside. Graveside services will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. If desired, memorials are appreciated to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (address above).
